  1.                              Hypothyroidism
  2. SYMPTOMS in children and infants may include dry, thick skin, broad face,
  3. puffy feet and hands, flat nose, enlarged tongue and dull intelligence. In
  4. adults there may be signs of mental apathy, slow speech, sensitivity to
  5. cold, thickened dry skin, constipation, drowsiness and puffy face and hands.
  6. CAUSES are from a thyroid hormone deficiency that may be a result of lack of
  7. iodine in the diet or deficiency of the pituitary gland.
  8. TREATMENT. Medication for thyroid hormone deficiency.
